The Death of Kugan And The Convoluted Reasoning Of Our Much-Maligned AG

1st October 2009.

The late KUGAN suffered a brutal and painful death whilst in Police custody.

After a futile attempt at a cover-up and almost 8 months later ( and with an impending by-election in Negeri Sembilan ), the AG finally awoke from a self-induced stupor to charge 1 Policeman ( although we were told 11 personnels were initially suspended and assigned to desk jobs ) with an offence for causing grievous hurt whilst trying to extort a confession from the the late KUGAN ( and not for the offence of murder ).

The AG wants us to believe that a single policeman had inflicted such untold physical brutality on the deceased.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today is indeed a sad day, not only for the family of the late Kugan, whose life was so brutally snatched away by some licenced goons who unashamedly claim to be Police Officers, but also to all Malaysians who believe in this thing called the Rule of Law. It numbs our senses. Is the AG really that heartless without a sense of responsibility to the colour of his office?

The AG's reasoning ( as reported by the media ) for not charging the culprit for murder ( "because the deceased did not die immediately but four days later" ) is indeed mind-boggling! You mean you can only charge a person for murder if death is instantaneous? How revealing? I thought only God works in mysterious ways but it looks like the AG too acts in a similar fashion..... and God he is not!!!

You see, if you want to give the story a spin ( as dictated by your political masters ), then you better do it like a professional or else you will either fall flat on your face ( as in this instance ) or you will find yourself in a knot ( remember Dr M's famous assertion that " Anwar is safe " and the "blackeye could have been self-inflicted? " and by implication, was proven to be an unmitigated liar to the world?).
Today, the AG wants us to believe that a single Policeman, unaided by his collegues, inflicted those horrendous injuries on the late KUGAN. In that case, I would also want the AG to believe that my mother is a virgin to the hilt!

The problem with our leaders is that although they will steadfastly assure you that no one should question their God-given right to carry out their religious obligations and to protect their race, the very next minute they will conduct themselves in a manner that is anthema to their race and religion.
For instance, doesn't our religion teach us that we should owe our loyalty to our oath of office and not to our political masters? Maybe this is the question the AG should ponder over.

Would he have recommended the same charge if the victim had been his son or a loved one? Are the lives of people like Kugan expendable simply because his family is poor and have no standing in the community?

Today, just before our AG prays to fulfill his religious obligations, I hope he will have a good look at his son(s) or daughter (s) and thereafter, reflect on the decision he has made and see if he can get a good nite's sleep.

Please dont get me wrong... I bear no personal ill-will against the AG ( heck , I don’t even know him in person ) and I am not saying this because Kugan happens to be an Indian like myself. I will still hold the same sentiments irrespective of the colour of one's skin or the length of his/her hair.

We must learn to love life... not destroy it because by doing so, you are usurping the powers of God and I don't think God will be too happy no matter how many times we pray or whatever offerings we make!

If BN in general and UMNO in particular, think that they can continuously hoodwink the public by mere sloganeering, the next GE may prove to be their rude awakening.... by then of course it would be too late!!!

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD...JUST SHUT UP..DIAM, TIAM-TIAM, VAYEI MOODHER

18TH sEPTEMBER 2009

Malaysia Insider carried a report that Dr M had severely criticized Samy Vellu for refusing to give up the Presidency of the MIC and by implication, that he is a burden to the BN because the Indians in general, supposedly hates Samy Vellu.
My two cents take on it follows:

Dear Sir,

This guys audacity never fails to stump me.

All the ills facing this nation ranging from corruption, racial polarisation, muzzling of the press, the rape of the Judiciary, bailouts of cronies et al over the past 20 years can be attributed to only one Man who is now fondly known amongst Malaysians as Dr Evil.

So who is he to comment and criticise others who have supposedly overstayed their welcome when he himself would not budge from his seat for over 20 years as if his life depended on it!!!!!. ( In case, you think I am a Semi Value supporter, let me assure you straightaway that I am not ).

Having stepped down from his post, he thought that Mr Sleepy n Hollow would be his well-trained lapdog to do his every bidding. When it turned out otherwise, what did Dr Evil do: spew scorn and venom on him like a spoiled brat an almost daily basis so much that Mr Sleepy n Hollow had to bid goodbye in a hurry…… no thanks to Dr Evil and ably assisted by his son Mr Mook, Mr Moo, who backstabbed Mr Sleepy n Hollow to become DPM and the very sly Mr See For Na Jip.

Therefore, everytime this guy opens his mouth now, I feel like throwing up! He speaks and behaves as if politically, he has been prim and proper over the last 20 years. For god's sake, give us a break and get out of here ( and that goes for Semi Value also) and spare us the agony of listening to you.

You want to know who are the guys we would prefer to listen to now? Sdr Anwar, Sdr Nizar, Tok Guru, Sdr Zaid, YM Tengku Razaleigh, Tunku Abdul Aziz ( of TI fame), Lim Kit Siang, Sdr Sivarasa, Sdr Ramasamy... and the list goes on.

IT'S SO CONFUSING IT ALL SEEMS SO TRUE!!

Like Rais, the bogeyman returns — The Malaysian Insider

APRIL 24 — Veteran politician Datuk Seri Rais Yatim made it back to the Cabinet as information, communications and culture minister. And he lost no time to resurrect a bogeyman from the past, accusing the foreign media of a “grand design” to topple the prime minister.
He charged the foreign media of using various terms to describe Datuk Seri Najib Razak's character and give the impression that he was unacceptable to some Malaysians, saying this also happened but failed during Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's watch at the country's helm.
He is right. In fact, the last time the foreign media was accused of doing anything was during Dr Mahathir's long reign as prime minister where he once called them “congenital liars”.
But it is this kind of broadsides that was an aspect of “Mahathirism” that might rally some but also rattle others. Dr Mahathir himself brought this up early this week when he said the foreign media was out to “demonise” Najib.
Their proof is the laundry-list of allegations and claims that began in cyperspace and finally made it to print in many broadsheets and tabloids across the world. The allegations are as yet unproven and beyond denying them, Najib or the government have not taken any action.
Until now. Until Rais decided to call it a grand design to topple the country's sixth prime minister. But he believed the allegations will eventually die down.
"However, we must study (the situation) and if I have the chance, I want to have a debate with those trying to implicate our leader with unbecoming and nonsensical words," said Rais as quoted by state news agency Bernama.
He also challenged Datuk Zaid Ibrahim to a public debate about allegations against Najib as the former minister has been frequently quoted by the foreign media.
Rais, a lawyer by training, is within his right to accuse and challenge detractors to debates which is the way a civilised society works.
But he should really make his point by taking those who make such claims to court. If the foreign media is found to print lies, sue them. If someone slanders the prime minister, sue them.
Blaming the foreign media and raising the prospect of a grand design to topple the current prime minister is as old as the time Rais first worked under Najib's father, Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak Hussein.
It’s a tired excuse and a bogeyman that should be put to rest. And perhaps Rais should listen to Lim Kit Siang. Concentrate on broadband.
Not broadsides.

Bogeyman

written by S.S.Seelan, April 29, 2009

Like all Malaysians, I have heard all these rumours about the PM and Razak Baginda being implicated in the now famous case ( I cant say the name rite? This is 1Malaysia remember.... we must speak in one voice.. the PMs voice!) about both of them having had affairs with the deceased; about the PMs wife being present when she was C4ed; about RM530million being the kickback given to our PM through Razak Baginda and the said ill-gotten gains being the root cause for all the evil that hangs around our PMs neck like an albatross with a bad habit! But like most Malaysians, I too have yet to see any concrete and credible evidence to link the PM to the said "blowjob" .

So this begs a couple of questions :

1. why have these alleged rumours gained so much credence amongst the populace that they seem to have a life of their own?

2. why hasn’t the PM seen fit to sue them off their pants... after all I am told the current Chief Justice is a former UMNO hotshot! ( It was reported that when he was in legal practice, he had to bribe the Court staff to get things done but I will save my comments for another day.)

3. why did a certain Minister issue instructions ( or was it a command? ) to several Radio and Tv Stations that they are not to mention the PM, his wife or the Razak Baginda when covering any news about the "blowjob?" Its so confusing that it all seems to be sooooooo true!

Conversion case goes to Federal Court –by Malaysia Insider

By Melissa Loovi

PUTRAJAYA, April 28 — In an attempt to resolve yet another high-profile conversion case, the Court of Appeal here decided to refer five Constitutional questions to the Federal Court.
In November 2002, Dr M. Jeyaganesh embraced Islam. A few days later, he converted his two sons Saktiswaran and Theisviswaran without their mother’s knowledge.
Shamala, a Hindu woman, had taken Dr Jeyaganesh to the High Court for custody of their children in December that same year.
Meanwhile, Dr Jeyaganesh who is now known as Muhammad Ridzwan Mogarajah had also filed for custody but in the Syariah Court. He was granted custody a month later.
After multiple lawsuits and counter-suits, both parties finally agreed to put their case before the Court of Appeal.
Today, the three-man bench led by Datuk Zulkifli Ahmad Makinuddin made the decision under Article 128(2) of the Federal Constitution.
The five questions, drafted by the two counsels for Shamala and Dr Muhammad Ridzwan, together with input from the bench, are as follows:
1.Whether Section 95(b) of the Administration of Islamic Law (Federal Territories) Act 1993 (Act 505) is ultra vires Article 12 (4) and Article 8 of the Federal Constitution, read in their proper context?
2. Whether Section 95(b) of the Administration of Islamic Law (Federal Territories) Act 1993 (Act 505), as State law, is by reason of Article 75 of the Federal Constitution, inconsistent with a Federal law, namely, Section 5(1) of the Guardianship of Infants Act 1961 (as amended) and is therefore invalid?
3. In the context of Article 121(1A) of the Federal Constitution, where a custody order is made by the Syariah Court or the High Court, on the basis that it has jurisdiction to do so, whether there is jurisdiction for the other court to make a conflicting order ?
4. Where there has been a conversion of the children of a civil marriage into Islam by one parent without the consent of the other parent, whether the rights of remedy under Part II of the Federal Constitution of the non-Muslim parent is vested in the High Court?
5. Whether in the context of Articles 8, 11, 12(4) and 121(1A) of the Federal Constitution, the Syariah Court has exclusive jurisdiction to determine the validity of conversion of a minor into Islam once the minor has been registered by the Registrar of Muallafs (Majlis Agama Islam)?
Shamala was not present in court today and is believed to have left Malaysia with the two children in tow.
Dr Muhammad Ridzwan, an anaesthesiologist at a hospital in Kedah, was present in court. He appeared calm throughout the hearing.
“I have had zero contact with them for five years,” he told reporters later, adding that he missed his children terribly.
“Despite my best efforts to contact my family, it has led nowhere as all I know is, they are somewhere in Australia. The Australian High Commission will not co-operate with my lawyer’s appeal for information because there are privacy laws involved.
“I have no problems with joint-custody because I just want to be able to see my children,” he said.
“The affidavits clearly show that she is the one who left me and took the kids, not the other way around. I don’t even know if they are healthy, let alone what religion they are practicising but for me, I want us to find a compromise whereby I respect her faith and she respects mine and that is how we can raise the children,” he elaborated.
The 41 year-old went on to say that the children, who are now aged eight and nine, are old enough to decide for themselves whether they want to be Muslim or not even though legally they can only decide at 18 years of age.
“But there are many cases in Malaysia where a child is raised as both Buddhist and Christian because the parents are of different faiths and then the child eventually decides which religion is preferred,” he argued.
He said he agreed with the recent Cabinet policy directing children of Muslim converts to remain in their original religion until they can decide for themselves.
But he qualified that the decision must be fine-tuned so that it is “not just a blanket statement that doesn’t really resolve anything as it is not specific enough now.”
He admitted his practice had suffered as a result of this case, which has dragged on for more than seven years.
“This is a very difficult thing for me. What father can be happy without seeing his children for such a long time?” he asked.

If u Play the Game.. Learn to live with the Score!

written by S.S.Seelan, April 28, 2009

I agree entirely with Hamdan n Donplaypuks. This guy ( it boggles the mind that he is a doctor ) just wanted to manipulate a great religion for his own selfish ends and in the process, he had no qualms or reservations in exploiting his children in this sordid and painful episode. As one reader said, " This is your karma, doc!".

As another reader commented, did it ever dawn upon him that suddenly one morning, like a flash out of the blue, he has suddenly become such a religious and pious person that he had to convert to Islam at all costs or was these a grand design by him to exploit the religion of Islam for his own selfish ends?

Well, doc, you wanted to play the game... now you had better learn to live with the score!
By the way, those people involved in the conversion of non-Muslims to Islam, don't they ever ask or investigate why a person, all of a sudden, has this strong yearning to become a Muslim? ssseelan.blogspot.com

Dr M And A Garland Of Slippers

16.9.2009.

During the recently concluded MIC elections, some of the delegates had heaped scorn on Mahathir for allegedly interfering in the affairs of the MIC for stating in his blog, inter alia, that Samy Vellu is destructive to the Indian community and for throwing his support behind Samy’s arch nemesis Subramaniam, who was contesting the Vice President’s post in a three-cornered fight with Palanivelu and Sothinathan.

One of the delegates suggested that a garland of slippers should be worn around the portrait of MM and this drew the ire of Najib and UMNO and other Malay-based organizations ranging from a public and personal apology to MM to throwing out MIC from the BN.

My comments to an article on the said subject matter which appeared in one of the blogs:

Dear Sir,

Let me first get a few formalities out of my chest.

I hate.. no I despise Dr M….. for permitting unmitigated corruption to fester and become a way of life... for tearing down the judiciary, nay for the rape of the judiciary.... for making the Royalty to kow tow to him by removing their immunity... for making the Police Force a power unto themselves... for misusing the government's purse in the billions to bail out his cronies ( remember Tajudin and Malaysian Airlines?)..... for muzzling our inalienable right to express ourselves boldly and without fear or favour….. by whipping us ever so often with the ISA et al. Gosh.. I feel good now! To the detractors, let me just say that this list is by no means exhaustive!

In so far as this controversy goes, let as not attempt to give a prognosis of the ailment without ascertaining its cause.

The 20 million dollar Q is: WHY DID DR M POKE HIS FREAKING NOSE INTO THE AFFAIRS OF THE MIC?

Is this the oft-repeated “Malaysian way?” Is this the BN's way... meddling into your coalition partners affairs? More so when the party elections are looming?

Hey, if you choose to play with fire, you can either cook yourself a dinner ( my apologies to the wonderful Siti Hasmah ) or get your blooming and wrinkled fingers burnt! Its elementary Watson.

If you feel compelled to meddle in other peoples' affairs, please be man enough to face their wrath when they retaliate. Be man enough to give them an appropriate riposte... and don't run to Najib or Muhidin everytime your feathers get a little ruffled by your own idiocy! And for God's sake don't give a racial spin to it.

By the way, when Dr M left UMNO, was it not Musa Hitam who opined something to the effect that a cancerous cyst was finally excised from UMNO? What about Nazri... I am told that this guy, despite his academic qualifications and social upbringing,is nothing but a verbal canon ball( but I am digressing). Didn't this guy say something to the effect that Dr M can go to hell?

Now all you wise people out there: what action did you all propose against these two prominent Malaysians for acting so unMalaysian against a supposedly great Malaysian?

Hey guys... again don't get me wrong! I am not encouraging that its alright to garland Dr M with slippers. I will tell you straightaway without blinking an eyelid and without second thoughts that that was rather uncouth or biadap, as our Malay brethren would say.

The point I am really trying to get at is this : isn't there someone in UMNO who has got the testicular fortitude or the scrotal gumption to tell this grand old man to just mind the grandchildren ( and his own business) and leave the running of the government to Najib.

Haven’t we had enough of him for 20 blooming years??????

As it is, Najib already has his hands full with 1Malaysia, KJ, Mongolia, Baginda, Scorpion etc and he certainly can do without babysitting Dr M.

In case you guys are wondering that Semi-value paid me to write this piece, let me assure you that I hate this guy just as much for squandering the life and fate of the Indians in this country for over 20 years and today he has the audacity to say that the rakyat are not angry with the MIC but with BN. Aiyo Samy.

SDR ZAID'S CALL.....

22.7.2009

Sdr Zaid Ibrahim suggested in his blog that YM Tengku Razaleigh should leave UMNO and join PKR. YM T Razaleigh politely turned down the offer.

My comments:

Whilst I respect YM Tengku's inalienable right to express what he pleases, I am saddened by what he had written. As one reader rightly commented, UMNO does not care about people like you who uphold principles and are true to the objectives for what it was formed. Your voice will be more meaningful outside UMNO. You have left UMNO once before... do it again for the sake of the rakyat. Just see what they are doing to Anwar, the Perak fiasco ably aided by the Royalty, the death of TBH (and the attempt by the powers that be to turn it into a racial issue )....I hope it will prick your conscience and you will do the right thing.... just get out of UMNO for the rakyat's sake. It’s a lost cause.

WHOM ARE YOU KIDDING?

19.7.2009

My Response to The NUTGRAPH on DPMs statement that the Police will carry out a transparent and impartial investigation into TBH’s death whilst under MACC’s custody.
The Police will leave no stoned unturned? Transparent Investigations?Wait for the Police to complete their investigations?

How comforting!! Why do I get this uneasy feeling that the DPM ( and all his BN cohorts, shame on them) is in fact trying to shield the MACC? Could credibilty be an issue here? We are still waiting for the perpetrators of KUGAN's death to be brought to justice. How slowly the wheels of justice moves for the poor, the oppressed and the oppostion.

But in the case of the current Selangor MB, the MACC's Head Honcho was almost trigger-happy when he announced that there is a case against Tan Sri Khalid even before our lethargy-driven AG could respond!!! Now hows that for speed and efficiency? Do I detect some apple-polishing here by the MACC head Honcho?

Now just try digesting this....MACC officers allowing TBH, who had just been through a gruelling 11-hour interrogation, ( and he was a witness, the MACC tell us; just imagine what a suspect would have to endure in the hands of these licensed goons) to sleep in their pantry! ( Probably with pillows, blanket, brush and toothpaste thrown in. )

Such caring and compassionate officers populate the MACC and all that the ungrateful rakyat can do is to doubt the MACC’s sincerity when they say that TBH just fell to his death. Is that all that difficult to accept?

I mean look at suspects in Police custody... seemingly healthy individuals just die due to natural causes when they are in the lock-up. If the rakyat have swallowed this story all these while ( that’s what the Police think anyway), why cant the rakyat just believe and swallow ( and hopefully choke on it ) when the MACC say that they have nothing to do with his death ( although death occured within their premises and after discovering his body, they did not lodge a Police report but took a beeline to Putrajaya to seek counsel ).
And just remember, the MACC point out, this is just the 1st death.... its not that hundreds have died in MACC’s custody as with the Police. So why all this hue and cry? Why can’t the rakyat wait for a few more deaths in MACC’s custody before the rakyat register their disapproval!

Of course some will say that the Police and MACC are like adik-beradik ( you scratch my back and I will scratch you balls ) and they may be partial in their investigations but why are you blaming the MACC just because they sustain a close-relationship in matters relating to death in custody. This is not America lah or even Australia (where MACC's son had a brush with the law relating to some porn). This is Malaysia lah.

Therefore we always do things the Malaysian way... which in essence is the silly way!!!

Death At The MACC

19.7.2009

My brief response to Malaysia Insider on the death of Teoh Beng Hock at MACC’s office and Utusan Malaysia’s provocative comment that it is not only the non-Malays who know how to express their anger.

I write this as a former member of an enforcement Agency.

It pains me no end when I read about the blatant and audacious transgression of the law by my former brethren- at-arms.

Reading the BN-controlled media, we are often made to believe that suspected criminals always fire the first shot at the Police but miraculously, the Police escape unscathed and the suspected criminal always ends up being killed; an ertswhile healthy youth is detained by the Police and he suddenly collapses and dies of natural causes; BN politicians' ostentatious living and excesses are exposed by the opposition but neither the police nor the MACC make even a feeble attempt to look into these complaints; someone writes in his blog that an Exco members office in Selangor is being frequented by " shady characters " without an iota of evidence to substantiate his claim and yet none other than the AG himself comes out with guns-ablazing and orders an immediate investigations ( thereby bringing this art of apple-polishing to even greater heights in this country )!

When a PR politician who was on the threshold of a promising political career is cut down mercilessly whilst being a “guest” of the MACC, all that the UMNO-controlled media can think of is to state the obvious: that it is not only the non-Malays who know how to express their anger and they go off in a tangent and spin the entire issue into a racial one. To the Editor who wrote that nauseating article, I have this to say: just pray that this never happens to you or your loved ones. May the twisted image of TBH haunt you and your family for the rest of your lives.

The silence from the BN politicians especially from the MCA , Gerakan and MIC is really deafening and you should be ashamed to consider yourselves to be leaders of your community!!!!
But there is also a positive side to this sordid episode.

With one master stroke, the MACC has brought Najib's fabled 1Malaysia to its knees and had helped the opposition to secure another notch on their long and arduous journey to Putrajaya.

To the BN politicians, I say this: fear the next GE.

Religion And Spousal Acrimony

30.4.2009

A brief thought on the conversion of children to Muslim by Mdm Indra Gandhi’s husband without her knowledge or consent:

I agree with Pembela that this matter should be discussed rationally and objectively by all the parties concerned. I also agree to a certain extent that a Cabinet decision does not automatically translate into law. But I also ask my fellow Muslim brethren to just imagine this scenario for a second:

You wake up one morning and you find your children missing. You make some frantic calls and inquiries and you heave a sigh of relief that your children are in fact safe and sound with the other spouse.

Then comes the bombshell: you as a parent are now told by the State Council of Christianity (or Hinduism or Buddhism etc) that your children are no longer Muslim but have in fact just been converted to Christianity ( or Hinduism or Buddhism etc)and are now known as John Doe ( and not Ahmad as you as the rightful parent, had named him at birth ) and you are further told by the State that there is simply nothing you can do about it.

Just put yourself in the shoes of the affected parents and ask yourself whether this is the stand you would take if you were the affected parent and it was YOUR CHILD who was converted to another religion.

In short, if we follow the Golden Rule of Confucius viz do not do unto others what you would not have others do unto you, we would never face this problem in the first place and Malaysia would be a heaven on earth as envisaged by our beloved Tunku Abdul Rahman, the Father of all Malaysians, irrespective of race, colour or creed.

The Murder Suspect and His PHd

Razak Baginda gets doctorate from Oxford – Malaysian Insider
He was a murder accused once but Razak Baginda is now Dr Abdul Razak Baginda.

KUALA LUMPUR, June 11 – Political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda, who was at the centre of a high-profile trial for abetment in the murder of a Mongolian woman until his acquittal late last year, has been awarded a Doctorate of Philosophy in International Relations by Oxford University, one of the world’s top universities.
Dr Abdul Razak, 49, told Bernama here today that he submitted his doctorate dissertation in September 2006 but the university put it on hold because of his arrest two months later in connection with the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu.
“When I was acquitted and released from prison on Oct 31 last year, I wrote back to the university, they revived the whole process and early this year they told me that I had passed and been awarded the Doctorate of Philosophy (DPhil). At Oxford, the Doctorate is called DPhil and is equivalent to PhD in other universities,” said Dr Abdul Razak.
He said in October, he would take up an appointment as a senior associate member of St Anthony’s College at the university.
In this capacity, he will undertake research on international issues.
Dr Abdul Razak, who studied at Oxford’s Trinity College in preparation for his doctorate, said he hoped more Malaysians would strive to study at top universities.
“There have been very few Malaysians who made it to Oxford, fewer still who obtained DPhil and even fewer among them are Malays,” he said.
He also said he was in the midst of writing a book of his life with the focus on his 22 months under remand in the Sungai Buloh Prison during the trial.
Two policemen, Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri, 33, and Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar, 37, who were charged for the murder were found guilty and sentenced to death. Both have appealed against the conviction and sentence. – Bernama

I agree…..this guy has no scruples whatsoever.

With the Atlantuya murder still haunting the nation, he has the audacity to call up the National News Agency, Bernama to bleat that he had obtained a doctorate. And he goes on to say that very few Malays have obtained a DPhil from Oxford. Even in faraway England, the Mother of Democracy, he cant help himself from being a racist.

This statement has some very serious implications:

1. that he is a very smart person amongst the Malays only ( but not a smart Malaysian );

2. that Malays are generally inferior academically compared to their non-Malay brethren;

3. that obtaining a Phd from other Universities are a waste of time. As one reader commented, " Pandai lah kamu, Baginda”

Instead of keeping his gap shut and offer continuous prayers for his salvation, he chose to brag about his academic achievements. Whats wrong with this guy? Has his detention in Sg Buloh Prison got anything to do with it?

And oh yes...lets not forget that he swore a Statutory Declaration ( SD) that he had an affair with the poor lady! Academically, you are a Phd holder but what are you morally? Kindergarten perhaps ?

And what kind of a Muslim are you?

Wouldn’t the SD suffice for the Syariah guys to haul him up for khalwat, berzina or whatever?

And why continue to impart your knowledge to an English audience? As one reader commented, the English people are already smart enough la. Come to Malaysia lah and teach in one of those Universities where there are a lot of Malays like UiTM, UUM etc.

But then again, come to think of it, our modern and progressive Malaysian Malays no longer think along racial lines like you and they might not welcome you either.

So you better stay in England la........ eat English food, wear white man’s clothes, drink white man’s wine, ride a German BMW or Porsche, speak English with a twang, screw white woman and then come back home and pretend to be a Malaysian Malay Nationalist and tell us how Malaysians should behave!!!

Tell me, isnt there a limit for hypocrisy in Bolehland?

Goons At The Perak State assembly

The Malaysian Insider

Democracy and rule of law in jeopardy in Perak — Param Cumaraswamy

MAY 8 — On March 4, I appealed to His Royal Highness the Sultan of Perak to dissolve the State Legislative Assembly to avoid the crisis there leading to anarchy. Indeed what happened in the State Legislative Assembly yesterday was anarchy. I have never seen or heard of such chaos in any legislature in the world.
That such commotion could occur in a state where the Ruler was once the Lord President of the Supreme Court is beyond belief. As I said previously he could have averted all these if he had dissolved the Legislative Assembly on Feb. 5, and left it to the rakyat to elect a new government in accordance with the fundamentals of democracy.
Rulers must not only be above politics but must be seen to be so.
Lawyers will continue debating the validity of appointments and removals of the mentri besar and the Speaker and the crude manner in which V. Sivakumar was removed. They will continue to debate on the validity of motions adopted yesterday and at the previous meeting under the tree.
Each will have an interpretation of the applicable provisions of the constitution and by-laws. As I said on March 4, this is not the time to look into the technicalities and strict interpretation of the law, constitution and by-laws.
That one disputed Speaker could call in the police to assist the sergeant-at-arms to remove the other Speaker who was indeed removed forcibly did not speak well of the calibre of these state representatives. Procedural fairness was thrown overboard in the assembly yesterday.
The Perak Regent Raja Nazrin Shah’s presence there and his delivery of the royal address may not be seen as the Ruler being above politics.
What is most disconcerting is all these happened when there was pending before the High Court an application to determine who is the rightful mentri besar! Why the unholy haste to summon the Legislative Assembly?
The state constitution does not expressly provide that if the assembly is not convened within six months since the last session the assembly is automatically dissolved. What happens if on Monday the High Court declares that the rightful mentri besar is Datuk Seri Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin?
On the other hand if the court finds that Datuk Mohd Zambry Abd Kadir’s appointment was valid the public perception would be that the events of yesterday pre-empted the decision of the court. The independence and impartiality of the court would be called into question.
The ugly events of yesterday clearly show that there can never be an orderly and stable government in Perak unless the Legislative Assembly is dissolved and fresh elections held. I therefore urge Sultan Azlan Shah to exercise his discretionary power under Article 36(2) of the state constitution and dissolve the Legislative Assembly.
More than anybody else he should know better the finer principles of democracy and its values for a state under a just rule of law.
Datuk Param Cumaraswamy is the former UN Special Rapporteur on the Independence of Judges and Lawyers.

Today, I am away in Beijing for a short holiday with my family.
The peace and tranquility of the last couple of days were broken by several mms which I received from some well-intentioned friends showing the crude and appalling manner in which a sitting Speaker was removed by the state apparatus.

I immediately logged on to the net and I just could not believe what I read and saw about what is now being dubbed as " One helluva Black Malaysia".
My heart bled.. no ! not for Mr Sivakumar but for the death of democracy in my beloved Malaysia!
Now how do I respond when Malaysia becomes the butt of jokes among my friends in Singapore, India, Sri Lanka and England.
One associate from Singapore had already inquired rather sheepishly ( and with a tinge of sarcasm ) as to whether we have a cloned State Assembly from Taiwan and whether our Perak State Assembly are in anyway related to the Taiwanese!
For years I have been taking the mickey out of my Singaporean friends and I never thought that they would come a day that they would turn the tables on me! How strange!

Many constitutional lawyers ( except Datuk Shafee Abdullah, of course) have voiced their utter shock and dismay by the recent Federal Court decision which appear to fly in the face of at least 5 other previous Federal Court decisions including that of Fan Yew Teng and Lim Cho Hock. Some of my friends never tire to tell me that the Federal Court decided in the way it did recently because Fan Yew Teng and Lim Cho Hock were then DAP stalwarts whereas Datuk Zambry is from BN.
But I always thought political inclinations were never a factor when a particular case was decided by our Courts! You mean I was wrong all these time ah? How strange!

But what is even more mind-boggling is the fact that this political imbroglio is taking place in the State where HRH Sultan is a former Lord President. I also read somewhere recently that he reminded the rakyat that the Royalty are neither blind, deaf or mute. Well, what is he waiting for then? Cant he see, hear and feel the pulse of the rakyat calling for a dissolution of the State Assembly? How strange?

Then I hear that the BN governmentt is going to release shortly some of the ISA detainees including those from Hindraf . When questioned, our beloved PM had stated quite categorically that it was not meant to divert the peoples attention from the political mess engineered by the BN on May 7th.
My question is this: would you believe if I said that my mum is a virgin? You mean you don't? How strange!

The TPM ( yes yes I am referring to the guy who back-stabbed Ab Badawi ) justifies their release by saying something to the effect that they have all repented and voila! they are no longer a threat to national security!
I am now convinced that those guys in Guantanamo Bay can learn a thing or two from our super super Special Branch! Strange?

Najib "Strong and Vibrant Cabinet

The Malaysian Insider

Tunku Aziz, one of the prime movers in setting up Transparency International Malaysia, in happier times was regarded by Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi as "one man (who) was able to harness his personal passion and deep commitment to the values of ethics and integrity, give it a larger purpose and meaning, and turn it into a force to transform society for the better." Why then was he left out of the MACC Advisory Group? He is regarded as being too outspoken for comfort and, therefore, difficult to handle.

An untalented team lacking integrity

APRIL 10 — If you want my honest opinion, Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s People’s Cabinet is totally uninspiring and insipid to boot. And that is being charitable. What a sad commentary on the paucity of proven talent and integrity within the ranks of Barisan Nasional that all Najib has succeeded in putting on offer is a team of recycled political expendables, many with personal records of integrity that will not bear close scrutiny.
Najib has done nothing more than a bit of tinkering. Is this the clean and honest team that he has promised the nation? Instead of calling it a Cabinet, a more accurate and honest name for it is surely “baggage room” because most of those who are our new ministers, including Najib, unfortunately, are perceived to be carrying oversized baggage into office. If this had been a team chosen by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, I should not have been surprised.
But subjecting his ministers to the discipline of the KPI or key performance indicators is an idea whose time has come. However, the danger with management tools like Long Range Strategic Forecasting and Management by Objectives, now long forgotten, and the new panacea, the KPI, is in the distinct possibility of their being more honoured in the breach than in the observance. That being said, let us see whether the new broom can keep up with a mountain of bureaucratic trash that has been generated in the corridors of Putrajaya.
As part of his whiter-than-white government, he should have said something, when he announced the Cabinet yesterday, about revamping the declaration of interests/assets regime for all those holding elected public office in his administration, i.e. his ministerial colleagues. The present arrangements are as effective as using a pop gun when confronting an armed robber. They are hopelessly inadequate and the whole exercise is a total waste of time. No one is fooled by it. I speak as someone with some practical experience in this area.
I was responsible in 2006, as Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on the Establishment of the United Nations Ethics Office, for putting in place the Declaration of Interests (assets) and the Whistle Blower Protection programmes. It is interesting to note that when Dr Mahathir was prime minister, he proudly proclaimed that all his Cabinet colleagues should declare their assets to him.
To whom did the prime minister declare his assets? In the interest of curbing grand corruption in the Najib administration, I will be happy to share my knowledge with him notwithstanding the fact that I am a DAP man. Corruption should not be politicised. Anyway, if it is good enough for the UN, it should be good enough for the Putrajaya Mandarins.
The nation wants Najib to succeed in his “1 Malaysia” vision. He will if he keeps an eagle eye on key institutions such as the police, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, the criminal justice system, including the office of the Attorney-General, not to interfere with their work, but to ensure that they do not abuse their power and authority.
Stupid police behaviour in dealing with public order, for example, can unravel any good the administration has tried to do. Najib must implement without delay the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission that Pak Lah did not have the stomach to put in place simply because the police top brass did not like it. Will Najib be prepared to put public interests at the forefront of all his actions, or will the police be allowed to dictate terms to our citizens?
Najib as part of his reform agenda must listen to what people are saying about the office of the Attorney-General. Rightly or wrongly, it is seen as having compromised its professional independence. Its decisions have in recent years lost the stamp of moral authority in a number of cases. Najib should consider seriously making the Attorney-General a ministerial and, therefore, a political appointee acting for the government on purely political issues.
Najib should, in the interest of greater public confidence in the criminal justice system, create a position, that of Director of Public Prosecutions. A decision whether to proceed with a case or not should not be made by the director alone, but a panel of his senior legal officers.
The problem with the present office of the Attorney-General is that the A-G enjoys what amounts to absolute power, and as we all know this can lead to abuse. Ours is a parliamentary government based on the Westminster model, and Britain has found a system of checks and balances to be absolutely vital to protect the citizens from arbitrariness in matters involving public prosecutions.
Najib can yet redeem himself by showing, by word and deed, that we have misjudged him. Has he the intellectual honesty and integrity to do what is right by the people of this country?

I dont know if I got the spelling write but what the hack...the entire nation knows the status of the supposedly “ trim and vibrant ” cabinet with a magic wand that was going to transform "Banyak Malaysia-Malysia" into 1Malaysia.

And what a way to start by the DPM..... blame the Chinese ( its the racial card as usual) for their electoral loss at Bukit Gantang.

Hey what else is new?? In fact, to complete the picture, you might as well draft in Samy Velu.

The poor guy has been whining and whinging for so long from the sidelines that I am beginning to feel sorry for him despite the monumental injustice that he is alleged (yes, got to be careful in what I say even in cyberspace. Shucks!!!) to have inflicted on the Indian community.

What? Did I hear something about rebranding the MIC? How? By the same old laggards continuing to cling on to power? Sounds more like overhauling an old junk than any semblance of rebranding of any kind!!

I read somewhere that throughout his political career, Najib has not done anything spectacular that he deserves to sit at the zenith of his political career today but I gave him the benefit of the doubt and I, like so many Malaysians out there, sincerely thought that at last he would come out with something spectacular in the form of a sterling cabinet.

How does he have the heart to continue to disappoint and crush the hopes and aspirations of well-meaning Malaysians like myself?

And he continues to complain like an old fart that we are ungrateful by running in droves to the waiting arms of Pakatan Rakyat? Don' you guys get it,? I mean, are you guys so out-of-sync or as kids say nowadays........are you sooooooo der?

Now did I also hear someone say " Change or be changed"!

Like so many other slogans strung across government departments across the country, do they really know and understand its meaning and their implication ? Or are they in such a state of denial that they think that form over substance would suffice to hoodwink the elctorate in perpetuity?

Violence perpetrated by the Police Force today is unprecendented. But does any one in authority really care? Have you ever wondered that every time an alleged criminal is shot dead, invariably it is alleged that it is the criminal who fired the first shot ( or attacked them with a parang, knife, blade, sickle et al ) and by some strange phenomenon, the criminal ends up dead. And guess what, with the criminal’s execution by the Police, miraculously about 20 or 30 criminal cases are immediately solved.

Are our politicians so beholden to our Police Force that none of them have the courage of conviction or testicular fortitude or scrotal gumption ( have balls la! ) to ensure that the IPCMC is set up and set up with haste, for God's sake! Must some serious calaminity befall their loved ones before they can see the legitimacy of the clarion call of the rakyat to set up the said commission?

It was reported that CM Lim Guan Eng"s response after the PKR’s recent victory in the by-election in Kedah was " Thank God for Mahathir".

After the next General Election, when a new government sweeps the country, I hope I will be able to say, " Thank God for Najib"s New But Bloody Old Cabinet".

Recyclelables (Our New Cabinet)

Dear Bloggers,

Was browsing through the Malaysia Insider today (14th April 2009) and came across an article entitled " An Untalented Team Lacking In Intergrity " by Tunku Aziz, formerly of Transparency International. As usual,he was scalpel-sharp and forthright and it was a joy to read his thoughts on Najib's recycled cabinet.

<An Untalented Team Lacking Integrity strong>APRIL 10 —

If you want my honest opinion, Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s People’s Cabinet is totally uninspiring and insipid to boot. And that is being charitable. And what a way to start by the DPM..... blaming the Chinese ( its the racial card as usual) as being ungrateful for voting the opposition in the recent Bukit Gantang bye-election.

Hey what else is new??????? In fact, to complete the picture, you might as well draft in Samy Velu.

Violence perpetrated by the Police Force today is unprecendented. But does any one in authority really care? Has a single Minister voiced his concern over the large number of deaths in Police custody?

Have you also ever wondered that every time an alleged criminal is shot dead, the Police will invariably allege that the alleged criminal (now deceased, of course ) opened fire first and by some strange phenomenon, he ends up dead and the Policeman(men) who were shot at, again by some strange phenomenon, escapes without a scratch. And guess what, hey presto!!! miraculously about 20 or 30 criminal cases are immediately solved.

EXCITING TIMES IN PERAK

Malaysia does not only have the tallest twin towers, the longest ketupat ( or is it the thickest ), roti canai with the biggest diameter, the longest teh tarik ( whatever that means !), we also have the longest election campaign in the world.

March 8 has come and gone but our politicians appear to be still on the campaign trail. Just look at Perak!

But unlike others, I am not complaining. After 2 decades of a corrupt and decadent Mahathir era, we are finally in the midst of some exciting times.

For instance, reading the newspapers is fun once again ...... no matter the spin attached to a particular story by the mainstream and BN-controlled media. Its fun because politics in Malaysia are no longer as predictable as it used to be.

Just read todays Star! The Minister Azalina said she had burger with officers of the MACC when they were recording her statement. After that, the much-heralded officers of the MACC had sought her permission, yes, they had sought her permission before going to inspect her house! Now isnt that nice? Now not only UMNO, but MACC also, it would appear, is giving fodder to the public to vote the opposition!

Look at Perak again:

2 Menteri Besars.... isnt that exciting? Where in the world would you have such a remarkable political situation!

MB Nizar... what an exciting and cool cat he has turned out to be. Isnt it exciting that he is the face of modern day PAS?

And the Speaker Sivakumar... step aside Russell Crowe and make way for the Perak Gladiator!
For over 50 years the BN was singing " The Speakers Decision Is Final! The Speakers Decision Is Final". Suddenly, out of the blue, the Perak Gladiator has not only made the mighty BN sing a different song but he has also changed the tune altogether! Now if that is not exciting I dont know what else is!!

Democracy under a tree? God tell me! Isnt this exciting! Never in their wildest dream would the BN govt have dreamt of the tenacity and dour determination of the PR govt. And the best response from BN? Issue a summons and remove the plaque under the Tree of Democracy! Isnt it apparent that after 50 years, the BN has still a lot of growing up to do?

Lets have a look at the BN's response in general:

They appoint an MB in haste but I am told that the Indians in Perak are not complaining. Why? Because they are claiming that they are all related to MB Zambry by colour at least. Now isnt that exciting?

They appoint a hotshot lawyer who goes to Court and states rather emphatically that Speaker Sivakumar is a Public Servant. Hellooooooo! In that case, are you saying that Mr Sivakumar is still the legitimate Speaker and by implication, the PR govt is the legitimate govt? Goodness Gracious! With lawyers of this calibre, why should Mr Sivakumar even bother engaging one!!!! Isnt this exciting!

The State Legal Adviser ( The No 1 BN Hotshot Legal Eagle of Perak) claims he is representing MB Zambry! Then he submits that the Speaker cannot engage a lawyer of his choice to represent himself and goes on to say that he can only be reperesented by the State Legal Adviser. Even a layman can see how idiotic he sounds! How can the State Legal Adviser represent two adversaries in Court at the same time over the same matter? No wonder one of the Judges of the Court of Appeal commented " You Nak Lari Sini, Lari Sana Macam mana?"

Now we also understand that the BN in general and UMNO in particular have become the Ultimate Guardian Of the Royalty. That is fine except for a few disturbing facts:

a. who orchestrated that removal of the immunity against the Royals in the first place;

b.who deliberately played up in the media about a certain Royalty being involved in the smuggling of cars by refusing to pay the custom duties?

c. who had a banner in Trengganu recently that read "Raja Natang"

Talk about hypocites!

As you can see, we are living in exciting times and mind you, I havent even touched on :

i. the missing Indian private investigator;

ii. the "sekejap ada, sekejap taada" victim of sodomy;

iii. the Burmese doctor who seem to have diasappeared;

iv. Atlantuya and the latest write-up in a French newspaper;

v. the disappearance of the individual who distributed intimate pics of ELI Wong.... and the list goes on.

So, let me reiterate again that I am not complaining about the rather fluid political situation in the country. In fact that is how it should be... fluid lest our polticians become too complacent for their own good!

We Area All Immigrants

Hi my fellow bloggers,

I am reproducing ( copy n paste la) an article written by an "immigrant Muslim Bumiputra" which I enjoyed thoroughly. He is candid! He is forthright! He is unpretentious! Qualities you will never find in any UMNO politician who appear to be bent on playing the race card whenever it advances their political agenda.

This article is an English translation. The original article was written in Bahasa Melayu..oops..Bahasa Kebangsaan...oops Bahasa Malaysia... Bahasa Utama oops!!!

It was published in the blog "Centre For Policy Initiatives"

My short response to the said article also follows.

*Antara pendatang dan penumpang (English Translation)*
To begin with, I was quite reluctant to comment on the mess created by the statement made by Ahmad bin Ismail, the head of the Bukit Bendera, Pulau Pinang UMNO Division.Whether he made the statement in reference to Chinese Malaysians is no longer the question, as the issue has spread and has been hotly debated. If it is not handled carefully and smartly, this issue could make clear water murky, giving opportunity to parties who are keen on seeing this country crash, not to mention falling into the hands of foreigners.
In today's borderless world, international electronic media coverage makes it difficult for any country to hide or deny any given event. The main issue brought up by Ahmad Ismail revolves around the question of "squatters", that is, that Chinese Malaysians are squatters in this country. He explained that he was referring to pre-independence days. However, it had hurt the sensitivity of the Chinese Malaysian community.
I don't know Ahmad Ismail personally, but I was quite close to his late elder brother, Abdul Rahim Ismail, the owner of Rahim Construction Company that was once famous as an "Earth-Prince" (Bumiputra) construction firm in Pulau Pinang. I don't know what has happened to the company after Abdul Rahim passed away.
Personally, I don't agree with what Ahmad Ismail said for the following reasons.
To me, nearly 90 percent of Malaysians, especially those in the Peninsula, are immigrants, and all of us are actually squatters in the land of Allah anyways. We are anything but permanent owners, we are merely squatters..For example, I come from a family that squatted in this blessed land. My paternal grandfather and grandmother migrated from Mecca and Brunei, while my maternal grandmother came from Hadramut, Yaman. We are immigrants and squatters, as are almost everyone else in this country.
As for Ahmad Ismail, he is also an immigrant having descended from an immigrant's family who squatted in this country. Ahmad Ismail cannot deny the fact that his grandfather and grandmother moved from India to this country in search of a better life in this blessed land..
It is also the case with Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi whose maternal grandfather hailed from Guangdong in southern China. In short, Pak Lah's grandfather, Allahyarhamah Kailan, whose name was Hasson Salleh or Hah Su Chiang, was an immigrant. He moved to Tanah Melayu from Guangdong in the mid-19th century. He stayed in Bayan Lepas as a rubber estate worker, a padi farmer and later became a diamond trader.
Najib Tun Razak, Deputy Prime Minister, is also a descendant of an immigrant Bugis family that came from Sulawesi, Indonesia.
Hishammudin Hussein cannot escape the fact that there is Turkish blood running through his veins.
The Malacca Malay Sultanate was founded by an immigrant coming from Sumatra -- Parameswara, a prince who practised Hinduism.A reading of the history of Malay Sultanates would reveal that some of them were founded by Bugis immigrants, while others were of Hadramut and Minangkabau parentage.
Almost all Malays living in this country are from outside Tanah Melayu, but are defined as "Malay Race" by the Federal Constitution. We are "Malay" in definition by the Constitution, that is, we are Muslims; we practise Malay customs and speak the Malay language.Unfortunately, the Malay language itself seems to have been killed by the Malays in UMNO when they named it the Malaysian language (Bahasa Malaysia)..
Therefore, Arabs like Syed Hamid Albar and myself, Achehs like Sanusi Junid, Indians like Kader Sheikh Fadzir and Nor Mohamed Yakcop,Bugises like Najib, Minangs like Rais Yatim, Jawas like Mohamad Rahmat, and others from Madura, Pulau Buyan, Siam, Myanmar, Yunnan (China) and the Philippines are conveniently categorized as Malays.
They are accepted as Malays regardless of whether they speak Malay or otherwise at home like those of us who speak Arabic, the Jawas that speak Jawa, the Minangs that speak Minang, or the Mamak that speak Tamil. These languages are anything but Malay if we look at it from the perspective of the Federal Constitution, so they should never have been declared Malays. But for the sake of political correctness, all of them are accepted as Malays and "Earth Princes" (bumiputra).
It is grossly unfair to point to the Chinese as immigrants when the Arabs, Indians, Achehs, Minangs, Bataks, Mandailings, Jawas, Maduras, and Bugises are immigrants no less in this country. We cannot deny the fact that most of the Chinese's grandfathers and grandmothers migrated to this country in the days of the Malacca Malay Sultanate, some of whom did so during the period of Kedah Sultanate, Terengganu Sultanate and Kelantan Sultanate respectively.
After Francis Light wrested Penang from the hands of the sultan of Kedah in 1786, more Chinese had arrived here.We are all immigrants squatting in this country.
Only the Negrito, Jekun, Semang, Jahut, Orang Laut, Orang Darat, Senoi, and other indigenous people groups (like the kadazans, dusuns, ibans and bidayuhs) can be correctly considered the original inhabitants of this country.
We must never forget the contributions and sacrifices made by all the races in building our nation in all its aspects, including the economy, social structure, national defense and, most importantly, national unity. We are all taxpayers whether or not we are descended from immigrants or squatters.__________________________________Syed Imran, an Arab-Malaysian born in Penang, Malaysia, an ex-Bernama journalist (1971-1998) and former press secretary to the Minister in PM's Department, posted a great blog days ago, which was translated into English.

Dear Sir,
Coming from an immigrant "bumiptra", this is remarkable. Iwish the people in Umno had the maturity to discuss these matters openly insteadof classifying each and every "uncomfortable truth" as being sensitive. It is people like Mr Syed Imran ( God Bless You and Your Family ) who will winover the rakyat of all racial and religious denominations whilst UMNO ( and BNin general) and their ilk continue to cling on the supposedly glorious past. Ithappened to the Congress Party in India... to the LDP in Japan... to theKuomintang in Taiwan... and closer home to the supposedly invincible GolkarParty of Indonesia. That Mr ahmad Ismail was given a heroes welcome andpresented with a kris by UMNO clearly shows the extent to which they aredetached from the sentiments of the rakyat at large. The sooner that UMNOrealises that race can no longer be used as a fodder to advance one's politicalcareer, the better it will be for the BN's survival in the nextGE. ssseelan.blogspot.com

Saturday, February 21, 2009

Here is a scrambled account of my thoughts over the rather exciting political period that is enveloping " Boleh Land ".

When the Sultan of Trengganu ( our present King ) was reportedly not amenable to the BN govt's choice for a Mentri Besar, the entire Trengganu Exco was reportedly up in arms against the Trengganu Royalty. I also read somewhere that there was even a demonstration by the BN supporters ( I rephrase that, paid BN supporters ) where a banner with the words " Raja Natang " was displayed.

There was not even a whimper from our BN-controlled media or from our Jurassic BN Umno leaders that such an act is deemed " derhaka ". Ditto in Perlis.

In Perak, the BN govt seized control ( some say it is in fact a coup d'etat ) of a democratically-elected govt reminiscent of Gangsters taking control of an opponents area of operation.

A new Mentri Besar is appointed in haste ( prior to the sitting of the Dewan) by and with the blessing of the Sultan, an eminently learned man in Law and with scant regard and respect for the serving Mentri Besar elected and appointed by the Rakyat.

The Mentri Besar's appeal to the Sultan to dissolve the Dewan Negeri is refused as allegedly the PR govt no longer has a majority in the Dewan. Hey wait-a-minute! I am told the PR has 28 members and the BN has 28 members. Can somebody out there learned in the field of Mathematics ( not Law, please ) tell me if that is a majority?

"Oh but then the BN have the support of 3 Independants Tuanku," supposedly that is what our much-maligned Deputy PM must have told a guilable Sultan of Perak to convince him that they indeed command the majority in the Dewan. And so, our Sultan proceeds to " install " the BN's new Mentri Besar who never tires to remind the rakyat that he is the MB of all races.

Hey, but wait-a-minute again! Why this emphasis now? Were you guys the MB for only one race all these while ? In just 9 short months, did the PR govt take you guys to school on multi-racial politics?

But Nizar, in his usual cool and calm manner must have pointed out to the Sultan, " Tuanku, these two from Keadilan are scumbags and they are the biggest toads in the country and you cannot possibly take them seriously about being Independants. Didn't these two scumbags sign a letter of loyalty infront of your son Tuanku Nazrin, before I was appointed MB? So with such dubious credibility, how can you take their word for it when they say they will support the BN, Tuanku ? Isn't that treason (" Derhaka" )Tuanku, to go back on your express undertaking of loyalty to the PR given to Tunku Nazrin?"

"As for the crippled lady from DAP Tuanku, she has been in the DAP for the last 20 years and her political skills were honed by DAP stalwarts like Sdr Lim Kit Siang and Chen Man Hin etc. All of a sudden, akin to a Vision from the Heavens, she has experienced this sudden surge of affinity for the BN govt... it looks like she has fallen in love Tuanku... with the BN except that some say that this love is tinged and laced with cash......... lots and lots of cash. So Tuanku, would any decent human being take her seriously when she says she will support the BN? Is it any wonder then Tuanku that she is the most reviled female in the country today?

"As for Nasaruddin, Tuanku, he left the BN 10 days ago to join us because he said corruption is endemic in the BN. 10 days later he is back in the BN. Can you honestly stake your bet on this guy as to where he will be net week Tuanku?".

" So I plead with Tuanku to dissolve the Dewan and we will go back to the people to seek a fresh mandate so that scumbags and misfits like these could be eradicated from our political system."

Nizar must have als0 pointed out to Sultan that he has sought the audience of the Sultan with a view that he will make an informed decision based on morality, law and the will of the people. Nizar must have also pointed out that if he only wanted a decision based on the law alone, then he would have gone to the Courts and not the Sultan.

But it would appear that the Sultan had made up his mind and all the exhortations in the media by his son Tuanku Nazrin about the monarchy being neutral and being a bastion of hope to the people came to nought. It would appear that the rakyat's hopes and aspirations on the Sultan were clerly misplaced.

But Nizar was a cool cat. He refused, rightly, not to step as the MB as he reasoned that he was still the legitimate MB of the people. That put the BN in a quandry as again we have a situation that is unprecendented in the political history of the country. 2 MBs in one State? Clearly, Najib, who initially must have thought that he had finally "checkmate" Anwar, now became an object of derision and hate by the rakyat and possibly by some members of BN itself.

The Speaker of the Dewan, Mr Sivakumar, not to be outdone and like a bolt from the blue, suspended the BN MB and his coterie of Excos. He virtually pulled the rug from under the BN MB's feet!

The BN MB, who had initially bragged that " kami hanya akan bertindak berpandukan kepada undang-undang" now found himself in a knot. Court cases in this country are a long and arduous process and the BN govt knows that. So what do they do?

Bring in the race card and the Royalty. Any action by the PR govt to sustain their right to govern is deemed "derhaka".

The fact that the Speaker acted within the confines of the law ( ' even Mr Karpal cannot say he has a monopoly of opinion on this issue") and the State constitution stipulates inter alia, that the Speakers decision is final, seems to be of no consequence. But wait-a-minute one more time: who drafted the State Constitution? Isn't it a creature of the BN govt who ruled the state for over 50 years based on the same Constitution?

So why is the Speakers decision so inpalpable all of a sudden?

It is simple. The BN have been the ruling govt for far too long and complacency has set in. They have fat checkbooks but their brains are in deep freze. Tajol Rosli and his coterie of lackeys continued to behave as if they were still in the govt thereby alienating the people even further. Today Tajol Rosli, for all his bravado and sarcasm, has been compelled to take a ride into the political horizon by Najib himself.

The BN govt must understand that we have a different set of voters today who are not easily swayed by the race card. The BN govt must also realise that what is good for the goose is also good for the gander.

So learn to accept and conduct yourself as an opposition and maybe, just maybe, the rakyat may forgive you for your indescretions and return you to power.
