A brief thought on the conversion of children to Muslim by Mdm Indra Gandhi’s husband without her knowledge or consent:

I agree with Pembela that this matter should be discussed rationally and objectively by all the parties concerned. I also agree to a certain extent that a Cabinet decision does not automatically translate into law. But I also ask my fellow Muslim brethren to just imagine this scenario for a second:

You wake up one morning and you find your children missing. You make some frantic calls and inquiries and you heave a sigh of relief that your children are in fact safe and sound with the other spouse.

Then comes the bombshell: you as a parent are now told by the State Council of Christianity (or Hinduism or Buddhism etc) that your children are no longer Muslim but have in fact just been converted to Christianity ( or Hinduism or Buddhism etc)and are now known as John Doe ( and not Ahmad as you as the rightful parent, had named him at birth ) and you are further told by the State that there is simply nothing you can do about it.

Just put yourself in the shoes of the affected parents and ask yourself whether this is the stand you would take if you were the affected parent and it was YOUR CHILD who was converted to another religion.

In short, if we follow the Golden Rule of Confucius viz do not do unto others what you would not have others do unto you, we would never face this problem in the first place and Malaysia would be a heaven on earth as envisaged by our beloved Tunku Abdul Rahman, the Father of all Malaysians, irrespective of race, colour or creed.
