Our Home Minister And The Recent ISA Arrests

Re: The ISA Arrests And Our Incorrigible Home Minister

Let me say at the very outset that I write this short posting with malice towards none ( including our Home Minister who continues to make a spectacle of himself).

I was told that the last time our Honourable Home Minister made a spectacle of himself was when he was interviewed by the BBC ( in Hardtalk, I think ) when he was the Foreign Minister ( how ironic considering the fact that his forefathers were indeed "foreign" . Again I must be very careful in saying this because I cant substantiate this fact except for the fact that I read it in one of the blogs).

Although I did not get to watch the segment, I read an email containing a verbatim account of the interview and it was simply hilarious, to put it mildly. It was as if he was speaking to a Malaysian audience who had only learnt their Science and Maths in English ( without having English as a subject ). Even my 15year old nephew was prompted to retort, " Why cant he just speak in Bahasa Malaysia instead of harakiring the English language." As Sdr Lim Kit Siang said, these are " collectible gems ".

When Sdr Anwar refused to give his DNA ( after realising the extent the Police tried to manipulate his DNA the last time ), all that our Home Minister could say was " If he has not done it, why cant he just give his DNA ?". I understand that the Home Minister is a lawyer by training and as any good lawyer worth his salt, should not the Honourable Home Minister be asking himself, " Is Sdr Anwar within his legal rights to refuse to give his DNA?" Clearly, Sdr Anwar is not going to be tried in a Penghulu's Court, is he? ( Again I must be very careful here : I mean no disrespect to Penghulus ). Or do politicians freeze the neck up the moment they become a politician irrespective of their vocation before venturing into politics?

When someone asked him as to why the authorities are not utilising Sdr Anwar's previous DNA, he replied rather confidently, " but that was taken 10 years ago..its useless... mana boleh pakai lagi " or words to that effect. ( In fact our beloved PM parroted the same response but that's another story!) Now before venturing to make that rather silly response, should he not have got some professional advice from experts in the field of DNA who would have advised him in no uncertain terms that a DNA sample does not have a life span? Mind you, this comes from a Minister who is a lawyer by training and whose Ministry is given the responsibility of ensuring internal security.

The latest "gem" from the Honorable Home Minister comes in the wake of the latest ISA arrests. According to my limited understanding of the ISA culled from the mass media, I have always believed that the ISA is invoked against individuals who have acted or conducted themselves in a manner that would be prejudicial and/or threaten national security. Whether the person arrested had indeed acted in such a manner is a different issue altogether but this has been the official mantra the politicians will be singing everytime an arrest is made under the ISA.

Now we understand from the Honorable Home Minister that a new category of people are also liable to be arrested under the ISA : individuals who feel that their personal security is threatened. Now this is a cause of concern for the Malaysians at large. Just consider the following scenarios:

1. Everytime an Along comes knocking at your door and threatens to slaughter you and you feel your personal well-being is threatened, you might be picked up under the ISA.

2. If your neighbour threatens to turn you into an eunuch for peeping into his bedroom everytime his delicious wife is changing ( with the windows open la! ), and you feel your personal safety is being threatened, you would be well advised not to lodge a report against him unless you want to be arrested under the ISA.

3.If you are the victim of " road rage ", please do not go to the nearest Police Station to lodge a report ( although that may seem to be the logical thing to do until now ) unless you want the ISA to be unleashed against you.

You see fellow Malaysians, the possibilities are endless. So the trick to avoid from being incarcerated under the ISA is simply this : whenever you feel threatened, NEVER, I MEAN NEVER, report to the authorities.

I know a lot of you out there will be asking : if the journalist really felt that her life was threatened, why can our good and caring Policemen just provide her protection? But you see, that is an intelligent question and in the realm of our beloved Home Minister, you are not expected to pose intelligent questions and make his life miserable unless of course you want him to create another category of people who are liable to be arrested under the ISA viz : any individual who poses question during a press conference, which in the absolute determination of the Home Minister, is deemed intelligent and calculated to make the Home Ministers life miserable.

Dear Mr Saiful,

Let me say at the very outset that I am no apologist for Dato seri Anuar Ibrahim ( DSAI). I do not know him personally. I have spoken a cpl of words to DSAI on a cpl of occasions when I chanced upon him in Sg Buloh Prison altho I do not expect him to remember me. I am also not a member of Pakatan Rakyat (PKR).

Having said that, let me just say very briefly that your report of alleged sodomy against DSAI has raised more questions than answers and some of these questions are rather disturbing indeed. Now please do not hide behind these charade called "Allah Agama Bangsa dan Negara" and just help me and our fellow Malaysians by giving an appropriate response to these questions which does not seem to add up ( I must confess that I was never good at maths anyway!!!! ):

1. we are told that you were sodomised more than once. Is that true? If so, why didn't you lodge a report immediately after the very first incident?

2. is it true that you were examined by this Myanmar doctor from Hospital Pusrawi, Kuala Lumpur? If the said doctor did not examine you and/or did not carry out an "anal" examination on you as the Manager of Pusrawi wants Malaysians to believe ( poor chap, cant blame him. Nak hidup beb!!!), why haven't you stated this fact yourself publicly?

3. is it true that SAC II Roduan, who cuurently heads the Anti Secret Societies Branch in Bukit Aman, Kuala Lumpur met you several times ( once in Hotel Concorde, Kuala Lumpur, according to the papers ) PRIOR to you lodging the said report? If it is true, can you please let us know why were you given this special treatment by this very Senior Police Officer of questionable integrity ( according to the papers, that is ) whom we are told has this amazing and uncanny ability to interfere and transplant forensic evidence during Police Investigations, something which has never been done in any part of the world before ( including Idi Amin's Uganda )?

4. are you a member of Dato Najib or his wife's family and/or are you in any way related to Dato Najib and/or are you his personal friend and/or is Dato Najib or his wife your legal adviser and/or is he Dato Najib your MP or State Assemblyman etc etc? If otherwise, how come you, a University dropout and a self-confessed "coffee boy" ,could gain access into the house of the Deputy PM and have a tete-a-tete with him PRIOR to lodging a report against DSAI? I am told that even Cabinet Ministers face difficulties in seeing the Dep PM in his hse EVEN to discuss official matters. Surely, you appear to be Dato Najib prized possession at the moment.

5. why haven't you still, in the name of ALLAH, released the original Police report? If your allegations against DSAI is/are true and if you are a man of intergrity as you want us to believe, you could have easily posted it in your blog. Can you blame us for distrusting you and for believing that this entire unsavoury episode is a set-up by the Barisan Nasional govt which is out to scuttle the tsunami by PKR?

6. if you had really been so badly affected mentally and physically by this so-called sodomy against you, should you not have run straight to the nearest Police Station instead of running into arms of the Dep PM? ( What? Did I hear you telling that you don't trust the Police?)

7.why is the police so protective of you when you have shown that you are a man (????)of intergrity who hardly needs protection. Surely,a man who needs Police protection would not indulge in so much bravado by throwing provocative challenges at DSAI like "lets swear on the Quran", "wait for the Court case for me to reveal all", etc etc.

8. in the context of your allegation of sodomy against DSAI, did you know that he is 61 years old and that he has a bad back/spine and that he had to fly to Europe immediately upon his release from Prison to undergo ops/treatment? Or are you suggesting that that is just a lie concocted by DSAI and his foreign doctor(s) to fool the entire nation. (After all,the govt wants us to believe that DSAI is an agent of America, also a foreign country, rite).

Mr Saiful, I could go on and on but would these questions make any difference either to you or the powers-that-be who appear to be more intent to anhilate DSAI politically than in investigating the truth of your report. You are a young man and it greatly baffles me ( and a great number of the Malaysian populace, I guess) as to why you are doing the things that you do. All that I can say is that you have walked right into a political whirlpool and you are going to be sucked into oblivion.

Finally,to all those who have taken on a treacherous path for the past 10 years to inflict pain, shame and agony on DSAI, and by implication, against his luvly wife Datin Wan Azizah and her children, let me just say this: God works in mysterious ways and divine retribution shall befall all those who chose that treacherous path and often justifying their nefarious activities in the name of "ALLAH,UGAMA, BANGSA dan NEGARA".

The almighty God shall alaways prevail and so shall the Truth.

SSS
NB: I do not expect Mr Saiful to understand the comments that I have written, which is in English. But if at all he needs someone to translate it, I can only hope that he won't get the Police or a member of BN to do it for him.

My Maiden Entry

Hi there,

Like everyone else out there, the pull of cyberspace has compelled me to join the ranks of the bloggers! It seems its soooooooooo unfashionable and soooooooo out of snyc if u dont blog. Hey, dont just take my word for it; ask some of our Ministers and politicians who have also jumped on the bandwagon ( although they continue to churn out the same inane rubbish as if their blog was a Barisan-controlled newspaper!!!)......... the very same guys who only a couple of months ago ( read as pre-electoral tsunami ) hurled every imaginable abuse at bloggers!!!!

As I am not too computer-savvy, setting up my blog seemed like a monumental task. I was wrong! That was a piece of cake..... a walk in the park......perkara enteng! The real task that I am facing now is how do I divert all that traffic from chedet.com on to my blog? What do I post in my blog that will grab the public's imagination that it will compell them to dump their daily newspapers in the trash can and drive them in droves to my blog? Heck, your postings would mean nothing,I mean nothing at all, if it turns out that u are the only one who reads it daily...rite or am I wrong?

Having said that, I also hope, by the Grace of God, to abide by certain rules of conduct and ethics. For instance,I shall not indulge in self-censorship. As long as my post does not touch on the sensivities of race or religion, I shall say things as I deem fit. I have also told my self that I shall not indulge in " irresponsible blogging". Where it matters, I intend to stand-up and be counted. I also told myself that I shall have a field day with irresponsible and arrogant Ministers and politicians... something which I have not been able to do with our mainstream media. Datuk Seri Nazri comes to my mind immediately.... post-election, he seemed to have shed himself of arrogance ( remember his term for street demonstrators as "penyanga") and he seems such a gentleman these days ( remember his dressing down of the security guards at Parliament House who took it upon themselves to play the role of Fashion Police?).

I hope that I will find the time and the abilty to express myself on a myriad of issues confronting the nation in general and the men in the street, in particular. If any of my postings leave a bitter after-taste or ruffles the feathers of any individual or organisations, it must not be forgotten that this is also My Malaysia... right or wrong!
